Volterra is the yet undiscovered jewel of Tuscany. No highway and no train leads to this impressive city. 3000 years ago the Etruscans arrived - long before the Old Romans. They built one of their greatest cities on a towering bluff of rock and called it Velathri, today`s Volterra. Rests of their acropolis and necropolis can still be seen.
Volterra hosts one of the most stunning piazzas in Tuscany. Piazza dei Priori is the heart of the city, a little square with it's massive palaces that will immediately transfer you into the 12th century.
Stephenie Meyer, author of the world famous Twilight Saga, has chosen the narrow streets of Volterra as the home for her sexy vampire clan, the Volturi. And in fact, the real Volterra, rooted in it′s Etruscan past, Roman and medieval heritage, connects with Meyer's vampire history. We will tell you how.
This walking tour leads you through the fiction of Edward and Bella and through the magic real world of the Etruscan kings, the Roman patricians and the independent town people of the Middle Ages. A walk through history - accompanied by vampires.

You are not familiar with the Volturi and the Twilight Saga? No problem. Your guide will introduce you to the story. Would you rather like to see the movie with Volterra in the lead (“New Moon”) beforehand?Order the DVD here.
